1. What plans do we need to make for students with special needs?
MoMH and Life Skills Courses attend school as normal. They are able to participate in activities and projects not available during a regular school day due to the building being more available.
Teachers of special education meet to discuss additional support that may be needed for their students.
Increased communication is needed between special education teachers and parents to make sure that the students are prepared for success on the eLearning Day.
2. What do we need to provide for meals for our free and reduced lunch students?
Lunch must be offered to students qualified for free and/or reduced lunch.
Lunch must be consumed on site.
It is important to determine ahead of time who is going to participate in the meal program on an eLearning day.
3. What do we need to do to make sure students have WiFi access at home?
The first step is to survey parents to identify students who do not have access.
Those that do not have Internet access can partner with neighbors, public libraries, and/or businesses with WiFi access.
If the above options are not ideal, consider providing a way to allow the student to download the content at school the day before to have everything they need for the online day.
The building should remain open for a student to utilize the WiFi at the school in order to complete work.
4. What tools did the teachers need to be successful?
It is very helpful if teachers are utilizing digital content regularly in their classrooms.
Teachers need on-going professional development to help them best utilize the learning management system.
Teachers need to have time throughout the day to interact with their students as well as participate in professional development.
